School Trip to Paris October 2017

Paris Trip

On Saturday morning last (7th October), 45 TY and 5th Year French students and 5 staff members from St. Brigid's Presentation Secondary School departed Cork Airport for a four day trip to Paris. On Saturday afternoon, the group visited Montmartre. After many steep and cobbled streets, they reached the Basilica of Sacre-Coeur which sits on the crest of the hill. They sampled the many different crepes on offer and enjoyed the breath-taking views. Later in the evening, the students and staff enjoyed a boat tour (Bateaux Mouches) down the Seine, seeing the capital’s iconic monuments such as The Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, Notre Dame, the Musée d’Orsay and many more monuments which form the true richness of Paris’ heritage.

On Sunday, they visited the Louvre Museum which is the world's largest Art museum and a historic monument in Paris. They then proceeded to Notre-Dame de Paris, also known as Notre-Dame Cathedral, a medieval Catholic Cathedral. The pigeons surrounding the Cathedral were a huge hit with the Pres girls! The Eiffel Tower was the next stop and most of the students went to the very top and got some amazing pictures of Paris and its environs. After a good night's sleep, the St. Brigid's group made their way to Disneyland on Monday morning and spent the full day there between the Walt Studios Park and the main park. The day concluded with the illuminations show which marks the 25th Anniversary of Disneyland Paris.

There were sad faces leaving the hotel on Tuesday morning as the bus made its way towards Charles de Gaulle Airport to make the journey home. It was the trip of a lifetime and thoroughly enjoyed by all.
