Junior Football News

The Junior Ladies Football Team continued their good form with a win on the road against Pobalscoil Chorca Dhuibhne recently. The final score was 3-12 to 1-06 in favour of St. Brigid’s. The game was played in Dingle on another wet day but the girls did not let the conditions interfere with their performance. The first half was extremely impressive as St. Brigid’s managed to keep the home team scoreless with some great team defence. The forward line created three goals with Treasa O’ Sullivan and Kate Lynch getting on the end of some good team moves.

Following that win, the girls had a great success agains Coláiste na Sceilge last Friday. It was the first game this season in the Munster PPS Junior B competition and was played in Cloon in Killorglin on a misty November morning. The final score read 6-12 to 5-02 in favour of St. Brigid’s after a tough game despite the big gap on the scoreboard. Coláiste na Sceilge put the team under serious pressure and brought the best out of St. Brigid’s after a sluggish start. The defence must be complemented for allowing only two points with Amy Myers, Isabelle Murphy and Tara Murphy showing great leadership of this unit. Goals were scored by Ciara Randles, Shelly Clifford and Julie Delaney but many of these goals came as a direct result of Anna Cliffords endeavour on the half forward line. The team now progress to play Coláiste íde on Tuesday 14th  in Dingle in what should be another very tough game. Go n-éirí libh!
