In the First Year of Junior Cycle in St. Brigid’s
Students are offered tasters of all subjects. In January/ February of first year, students will indicate which four optional subjects they will continue into second and third year. Student’s select their preferred Modern Foreign language (MFL) before the October midterm break.
Second and Third Year of Junior Cycle
In second and third year, students study ten subjects: six compulsory subjects and four optional subjects. Students complete classroom-based assessments (CBA’s) in all subjects as well as assessment tasks. They also complete a wellbeing programme and are strongly encouraged to get involved in other learning activities and opportunities in the schools. This learning as well as their exam results are all recorded on their Junior Cycle Profile of Achievement (JCPA).
